Foundation Classes 2010-11
The London School of Astrology offers a foundation class for beginners
in central London. Our next full course begins on 26 October 2010 on Tuesday
evenings. Those who have some experience with the basics may
be able to join in Term Two, which begins in late January 2011.
Please contact the office on 07002 33 44 55 if you need further
information.
Those with more experience may be interested
in our Diploma course which will be held on Wednesdays from 27
October 2010 (see Diploma page).
Our Foundation Course is divided into three terms with Term One
and Term Two together creating a thorough introduction to astrology
in a self-contained course. In Term Three students get to consolidate
their interpretational skills and are introduced to some basic forecasting. Please note that from 2010, all astrology courses will consist of 8 consecutive weeknight classes (7pm to 9.30pm) and one Saturday seminar (10.30am to 4.30pm). Classes/seminars are recorded for students for revision/catchup.
Students can choose to enrol on a term by term basis. No previous
knowledge or special skills are needed and all are welcome. (Students
enrolling initially on Term Two or Three
will be assumed to be familiar with material already covered in
previous terms). On enrolment, students receive a copy of their
own birth-chart and during the weekly sessions will also receive
various texts and handouts to support their studies.
A simple, step-by-step approach will be employed throughout, with
support from your tutor.
Time of classes: 7pm - 9.30pm
The bulk of classes will be taught by senior tutor Frank Clifford,
with support from senior tutors Sue Tompkins and Kim Farley. Term One
In the first term you will be guided through some of the major
components of the horoscope - the Planets, Elements and Signs.
Tuesdays from 26 October 2010 to 14 December 2010 inclusive; eight Tuesdays plus one Saturday seminar (11 December 2010, 10.30am to 4.30pm).
Term Two
You will be introduced to the angles and houses of the horoscope,
rulerships, retrogradation, aspects, aspect patterns, chart shapings,
the Sun-Moon cycle, nodes, eclipses and basic astronomy. By the
end of this term, you will understand something of your own horoscope
and that of others.
Whilst the emphasis will be on interpretation, you will also learn
how to calculate and draw up a birth-chart for anywhere in the world,
and be introduced to the basic astronomy of the horoscope.
Given that many astrologers nowadays use computers, you will also
have opportunity to discover the software available. Our aim is
that you will have a firm foundation of astrological principles
upon which to build further understanding.
Tuesdays from 1 February 2011 to 22 March 2011 inclusive; eight Tuesdays plus one Saturday seminar (26 March 2011, 10.30am to 4.30pm).
Term Three
In the third term, as well as gaining confidence in and having
fun with interpretation, you will learn to spot themes in horoscopes,
look at case studies and celebrity charts, and be introduced to
basic forecasting.
Tuesdays from 3 May 2011 to 21 June 2011 inclusive; eight Tuesdays plus one Saturday seminar (25 June 2011, 10.30am to 4.30pm).
FEES (including all books, materials, recordings and handouts): Payable in
advance - £235 for one term or £450 for two terms
