About LSA Examinations
LSA is a member of the Astrological Guild of Educators.
The Guild is an independent and non profit-making international
organisation, whose brief is to maintain high standards in
astrological education and in the setting and conduct of examinations.
There is a strict code of practice for members to adhere to
and also a great deal of support. International setting,marking
and moderation of examinations occurs between Guild members
to maintain consistency of standards. |

Member of the Astrological Guild of EducatorsSchools of astrology
that belong to the Guild can be found in the Netherlands, Australia,
USA and now the UK. Graduates of London School of Astrology, in
common with graduates of other Guild members may use the Guild imprimatur
on their stationary. This 'logo' can be used as an international
emblem of excellence, ensuring as it does a certain level of education
in astrology and competence in its practice.
What are the fees for the Certificate and Diploma Examinations?
The fees as of 2008 are as follows:
Certificate - Technical £55
Certificate - Interpretation £65

Where do I go to sit the exams?
The General/Interpretation papers are sat at home in April each
year. You have TWO weeks to complete the Certificate Paper.
The Technical paper at Certificate level has to be sat at an
examination centre as follows (Sunday 6 July, 2pm to 5pm):
EXAMINATION CENTRE: Friends House, 173 Euston Road, Euston, London
(Room 2). Nearest tube: Euston. See Venues
for details.
Certificate Technical: 1.45 to 2.00 pm (extra reading time), 2.00
pm to 5.00 pm (exam) Saturday in early July 2008 (please arrive
by 1.15-1.30pm). Exact date to be finalised soon.
Diploma Technical: N/A
Is there a closing date to apply to take examinations?
The closing date for 2008 is now 7 April 2008 (Interpretation)
and 20 June (Technical). Applications
will NOT be accepted after this date. An application form is available
online. Fees can be paid by cheque and we accept most credit and
debit cards.
What do I expect after I have applied and paid my fees?
Once the Examination Secretary has received your application and
fee, s/he will allocate you a STUDENT NUMBER which will be known
only to you and the Examination Secretary.
Do I need to take anything to the Examination Centre?
You are required to take a Raphael's ephemeris for current year.
Also scrap paper, pens, pencils etc. All other ephemeris pages,
answer sheets etc will be provided. You may also bring non-programmable
calculators and ANY works of reference, notes that you wish to for
calculation (but not for astronomy).
Who will mark the exam?
Your paper(s) will be marked independently by TWO professional
astrologers with experience of examination marking who are NOT LSA
core tutors. At no stage will any of the markers know your identity.
How will I be notified of the results?
You will receive your marks for the Interpretation paper by mail
no later than the end of June (results will be posted by the end
of July for the Technical paper). Kindly note that EXAM RESULTS
are final. NO CORRESPONDENCE will be entered into. Papers are NOT
returned to candidates and we advise you to keep copies of your
work, wherever possible, for your own records.
What are the marking grades?
At both Certificate and Diploma level, the grades are as follows:
Pass 60 -70%
High Pass 70 - 80%
Merit 80 - 90%
Distinction 90-100%
Fail 0-59%
What if I pass one paper and not the other?
If you fail a paper, you will only ever be required to resit that
paper. You will never have to retake papers you have passed.
I have passed a certificate examination from another school, I
don't want to have to go through that subject all over again...
All examination passes from other reputable schools will be credited
fully and candidates will NOT have to retake papers (or even part
papers) in subject areas that they have successfully passed before.
